Wyoming Centennial
Scenic Byway

Includes Pinedale, Jackson, Togwotee Pass, Dubois

The Wyoming Centennial Scenic Byway is located in western Wyoming, and connects Pinedale Wyoming with Dubois Wyoming, via Jackson Wyoming.  This amazing road works its way along the
Wyoming Centennial Scenic Bywayeastern side of
Grand Teton National Park, providing some of the best views found anywhere in the park. Also traveling near the Gros Ventre, Bridger, Washakie, Fitzpatrick and Teton Wildernesses, the 163 mile long Wyoming Centennial Scenic Byway is among the most scenic roads in America and is definitely a "must do" during your Wyoming vacation.  

Found completely within the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, the Wyoming Centennial Scenic Byway is surrounded by one of the largest undisturbed ecosystems on the planet.


The 163 mile Wyoming Centennial Scenic Byway includes the combination of U.S. Highways 26/287 and U.S. Highway 26/89/191. Visitors of this incredible scenic byway will travel through high country terrain, as well as ranch land and even badlands.  

And even though it crosses high mountain passes, the Wyoming Centennial Scenic Byway is open all year round.  Visitors can drive straight through the Wyoming Centennial Scenic Byway in about 3 and a half hours, but there are many scenic attractions, museums, recreational opportunities and terrific shopping destinations that we recommend that you give yourself a full day on this scenic roadway.

Pinedale Wyoming
Sublette County Visitor Center, Pinedale WyomingPinedale Wyoming marks the southernmost point on the Wyoming Centennial Scenic Byway on U.S. Highway 191, and is a splendid Western town that is very enjoyable to visit and explore.  

Wind River Range
Pinedale is known as the "Gateway to the Wind River Range", which is one of the top areas of North America to back pack in and/or mountain climb. The Wind River Range area is also loaded with other outstanding outdoor recreation opportunities such as fishing and boating, just to name a few. ome to the Museum of the Mountain Man.  

Pinedale is also in the heart of the "Mountain Man Country", and there is plenty of evidence of this fact has you visit this wonderful Wyoming town.  The Museum of the Mountain Man in Pinedale is a fantastic museum that takes you back to this amazing period in the early 1800s.

Bridger-Teton National Forest - Hoback Canyon
Wyoming Centennial Scenic Byway, WyomingOnce you leave Pinedale on U.S. Highway 191, the Wyoming Centennial Scenic Byway enters a beautiful drive northward and westward heading along the towering Wind River Range and Wyoming Range.  

The scenery all along this stretch of the Wyoming Centennial Scenic Byway is tremendous.

You will then find yourself enjoying the amazing Hoback Canyon before entering the Snake River Canyon at Hoback Junction.  

At Hoback Junction you'll meet up with U.S. Highway 26 and U.S. Highway 89 as it takes you to the wonderful Western town of Jackson Wyoming....

Jackson Wyoming is one our favorite towns in the West. The shopping, the restaurants, the lodging, the museums, the ski resorts, the white water rafting... It's an incredible Western Town that we can guarantee you'll enjoy spending time discovering and exploring.   Jackson is also the gateway town to Grand Teton National Park, which is located just several miles north, as well as home to the National Elk Refuge where thousands of elk leave the high country and spend the winter here.  One of the premier Western tourist towns in the Rocky Mountains, Jackson Wyoming is an absolute "must see" while on your Wyoming vacation.  Click Here for all the details on Jackson Wyoming.


Grand Teton National Park
Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming Centennial Scenic BywayOnce U.S. Highway 191/26/89 leaves Jackson, you will pass the National Elk Refuge on your way just several miles north to Grand Teton National Park.  

Grand Teton National Park is one of the most scenic national parks on earth. With the towering Teton Mountain Range rising nearly 6,500 vertical feet above the valley floor.  

Grand Teton, the tallest peak in Grand Teton National Park reaches an elevation of 13,775 above sea level.

Togwotee Pass
Scenery near Togwotee Pass, Wyoming Centennial Scenic Byway, WyomingAt Moran Junction in Grand Teton National Park along U.S. Highway 191/26/89, the Wyoming Centennial Scenic Byway turns eastward onto U.S. Highway 287/26.  It then works its way through the Bridger-Teton National Forest, all the while climbing in elevation as it eventually reaches Togwotee Pass.  

At 9,658 feet above sea level, the view of the Teton Mountain Range far to the west is remarkable as well as the scenery all along this mountainous section of the road.  

Once at Togwotee Pass, the Wyoming Centennial Scenic Byway enters the scenic Shoshone National Forest as it slowly and gradually descends downward into the charming town of Dubois Wyoming.

Dubois Wyoming
Dubois Wyoming marks the northern end of the Wyoming Centennial Scenic Byway, and is a fantastic Western town where you’ll definitely want to explore while on your Wyoming vacation.  Not only is there a
Dubois Wyoming, Wyoming Centennial Scenic Bywaydeep Western history in Dubois where ancient trails were created in the area by Native Americans that in the early 1800s explorers, fur traders and mountain men would utilize.  

Then pioneer homesteaders and cowboys came to the area, as well as loggers cutting trees for railroad ties during the building of the transcontinental railroad.


Today Dubois is still home to genuine cowboys where they have real ranches and real cattle drives.  And surrounded by wilderness, Dubois is the gateway to unbelievable outdoor recreation opportunities. In fact, Dubois provides some of the best fishing, hiking, hunting and backcountry horse packing trips found anywhere in America.  The downtown is home to wonderful shopping, dining and lodging that you’ll enjoy discovering.  In addition, Dubois is known as one of the most important “epicenters” of Western archeology, where new exciting discoveries happen on a regular basis.  There is also an outstanding history museum in Dubois known as the Dubois Museum for all you history buffs!

National Bighorn Sheep Interpretive Center
National Bighorn Sheep Interpretive Center, Dubois WyomingDubois is home to the largest herd of Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep in the United States, and the National Bighorn Sheep Interpretive Center shares fascinating information about these amazing animals with its visitors.  

This impressive 2,775 square foot center provides valuable and interesting information about the biology and habitat of the Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep, especially the bighorn sheep that winter near Dubois in the Whiskey Basin that lies next to the Fitzpatrick Wilderness in the Shoshone National Forest.  

During the winter months visitors have a tremendous opportunity to see these incredible Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep in their natural wintering grounds just outside Dubois.
