Yellowstone National Park is the world's first national park, and is one of America's greatest treasures. Over 2 million acres in size, this amazing park is home to over two-thirds of the world's geysers, as well as being home to an incredible array of wildlife species and the largest high altitude lake in North America.  Among some of the most famous icons in Yellowstone National Park include Old Faithful GeyserOld Faithful InnYellowstone LakeLake Yellowstone Hotel, and the Lower Falls of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, just to name a few.  The uniqueness of this incredible area, with its 10,000 geothermal features, 300 geysers, endless vistas, breathtaking scenery, historic lodges and hotels, classic campgrounds, and abundant and diverse wildlife, make Yellowstone National Park not only the world's first national park, but also the world's favorite national park.

Regarding Yellowstone Park Lodging Facilities, there are 6 areas in Yellowstone Park where lodges, cabins and hotels are available.  These 6 areas include Mammoth Hot Springs, Roosevelt, Canyon Village, Lake Village, Old Faithful and Grant Village.  Below is a description of the lodging facilities found in each of these areas.

1. MAMMOTH HOT SPRINGS

Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel
The historic Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel is located just about 4 miles south of the north entrance of Yellowstone National Park.  The Mammoth Area not only provides classic Yellowstone Park lodging, but

Mammoth Hot Springs is also home to the world famous Mammoth Hot Springs Terraces, which are very close to the hotel and cabins.  Mammoth Hot Springs is also the Yellowstone Park Headquarters.

The historic Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel is one of only two Yellowstone Park lodging facilities that are open for both the summer and winter seasons in Yellowstone National Park, and the adjacent Mammoth Campground is the only campground that is open all year round.

The Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel was built in the 1930's, and has charming "Art Deco" style lobby, and has a famous "Map Room" that is home to a large map of the United States that is made of 15 different types of wood from nine countries. 

Rooms With and Without Baths
There are two types of rooms available:  Rooms with baths and rooms without baths.  Both types of rooms are simple yet comfortable, and each have 2 queen size beds.  The rooms with bath include a shower or tub/shower, sink and toilet.  For guests staying in the rooms without a bath, there are shared bathrooms with private showers down the hall.  All rooms have a telephone.

Suites
There are two suites available.  Each suite includes one private bedroom with 2 queen size beds, a sitting room with couch, a single trundle bed and TV.

To reflect the natural surroundings of Yellowstone Park, there are no radios, TVs or air conditioning provided in these Yellowstone Park lodging facilities (other than the suites have a TV).  Internet access is available for purchase in the lounge/restaurant area.

Mammoth Hot Springs Cabins
There are several styles of cabins to choose from, which include the Frontier Cabins, Hot Tub Cabins, Budget Cabins and Budget 2-Room Cabins.

Frontier Cabins
The Frontier Cabins are quite simple yet comfortable.  There is a shower, sink, toilet and 2 queen size beds in each cabin.  There is no phone.

Hot Tub Cabins
There are only 4 Hot Tub Cabins available, which include a private 6-person hot tub within a fenced enclosure, and has 1 queen size bed.

Budget Cabins
The Mammoth Hot Springs Budget Cabins have no bathroom but do have a vanity sink.  Shared bathrooms and private showers are nearby.  Each Budget Cabin has 1 queen sized bed, and there is no phone.

Budget 2-Room Cabins
These cabins have a connecting door that separates two rooms.  One room has 1 queen size bed, the other has 2 double beds.  Again, there is no phone.

There are no radios, TVs or air conditioning provided in the Yellowstone Park lodging facilities at Mammoth. Internet access is available for purchase in the lounge/restaurant area.  All rooms are non-smoking.

2. ROOSEVELT / TOWER

Roosevelt Lodge Cabins
The Roosevelt Lodge area was President Theodore Roosevelt's favorite place to stay in Yellowstone National Park, and the "western flavor" of this historic place is still alive and well.  The historic Roosevelt
Roosevelt Lodge, Yellowstone Park Lodging FacilitiesLodge was built in 1920, and is a wonderful rustic log structure that is home to two stone fireplaces and a fantastic deck with rocking chairs.  There is also a gift shop and a dining room inside the lodge.  
The Roosevelt Area is located at what is known as "Tower Junction", and is only two miles from the popular Tower Fall.

At Roosevelt Lodge in Yellowstone National Park, you will get a taste of the Great American West, with Old West Cookouts, Stagecoach Rides and Trail Rides.  So if you and your family want to experience the Old West, then the Roosevelt Lodge area is the perfect Yellowstone Park Lodging choice.

Frontier Cabins
There are no rooms in the actual lodge itself.  Instead there are cabins nearby.  Some of the cabins are heated and have a private bathroom and showers, and are known as the Frontier Cabins.

Roughrider Cabins
The Roughrider Cabins have wood burning stoves with no bathroom or shower.  There are communal bathrooms and showers available throughout the cabin area however.  You will be provided two presto logs for your wood burning stove.

There are no radios, TVs, internet access or air conditioning provided in any of the Yellowstone Park lodging facilities at Roosevelt.  All rooms are non-smoking.

3. CANYON VILLAGE

Canyon Lodge (Includes Dunraven Lodge and Cascade Lodge)
The Canyon Lodge is part of the Canyon Village complex, and is located close to the world famous Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone.  The Canyon Lodge consists of the main lodge (which has a restaurant
Canyon Area, Yellowstone Park Lodging Facilitiescafeteria and gift shop), and two separate lodges where the rooms are located.  These two separate lodges are the Dunraven Lodge (built in 1998) and Cascade Lodge (built in 1992).  Each room has its own private bath.

The Dunraven Lodge has four floors and has an elevator to every floor, whereas the Cascade Lodge has three floors and no elevators.  The rooms in both lodges are nicely decorated with modern western-style lodge furniture, and each room has two double beds.  There are no phones in these rooms.

To reflect the natural surroundings of this beautiful area, there are no televisions, radios, air conditioning or internet access in any of these rooms.

In addition to the Canyon Lodge and Cabins, the Canyon Campground is also located at Canyon Village.

Canyon Cabins
The Canyon Cabins, which were built in the 1950's and 1960's, are designed as multi-plex units and are organized into loops.  There are two styles of cabins available, which are the Western Cabins and the Frontier Cabins.  

Western Cabins
The Western Cabins are in either 4 or 6 unit modules, and have a private full bathroom. These rooms are quite spacious with modern furnishings and 2 queen size beds.  

Frontier Cabins
The Frontier Cabins are more modest than the Western Cabins, but do have a private bath with a sink, toilet and shower. These cabins are in either 4 or 8 unit modules.

There are no radios, TVs, internet access or air conditioning provided in the Yellowstone Park lodging facilities at Canyon Village.  All rooms are non-smoking.

4. LAKE VILLAGE

Lake Yellowstone Hotel
Built in 1891, the historic Lake Yellowstone Hotel is the oldest Yellowstone Park lodging structure in the park.  Listed on the United States Register of Historic Places, this grand hotel truly captures the flavor of
Lake Yellowstone Hotel, Yellowstone Park Lodging Facilitiesthe 1920's, which was the hay-day of this iconic landmark.  The view of Yellowstone Lake from the hotel is awe-inspiring, especially from the elegant Sun Room with windows all around as you listen to a string quartet. There is also a restaurant that provides fine dining and an extravagant menu. You will find wicker furniture throughout this grand hotel, and the wall colors are classic for the 1920's, giving this hotel a light and airy ambiance.

The Lake Yellowstone Hotel is still colored in it's iconic yellow, and the giant white pillars that the famed architect Robert Reamer designed in 1903 still greet you as you enter this iconic building.

Presidential Suite
Lake Yellowstone Hotel's Presidential Suite is beautifully furnished in the classic 1920's era, and has a parlor/sitting room, 2 bedrooms with queen beds, a telephone, and 2 full bathrooms.

Lakeside Hotel Rooms
These charming rooms are well-appointed and provide a wonderful view of Yellowstone Lake. These rooms also capture the charm and ambiance of the 1920's era.  Each room has a full bathroom and telephone, and the number of beds varies based on the size of each room.

Non-Lakeside Hotel Rooms
These charming rooms are well-appointed, and capture the charm and ambiance of the 1920's era.  Each room has a full bathroom and telephone, and the number of beds varies based on the size of each room.

Standard Rooms (Annex)
In addition to the main hotel, a two story annex was built in 1928 which provides guests with a more economical option for their Yellowstone Park lodging experience.  Each room has a private bathroom, and has modern furnishings. 

Accessible Rooms (Annex)
On the first floor of the Annex, there are a number of accessible rooms with roll-in showers, accessible sinks and accessible toilets.

Frontier Cabins
These simple duplex cabin units were built in the 1920's but completely remodeled in 2004 for your Yellowstone Park Lodging enjoyment, and are located nearby the Lake Yellowstone Hotel.

Lake Lodge / Lake Lodge Cabins
Just down the road from the Lake Yellowstone Hotel is the historic Lake Lodge.  This wonderful log structure is a classic example of Yellowstone Park's "Parkitecture Style" of architecture, making this historic lodge a charming place to visit while visiting Yellowstone Park.  The Lake Lodge has a huge open grand room with classic furniture, two fireplaces, gift store, lounge and cafeteria.

An incredible porch faces Yellowstone Lake that has rustic hickory rocking chairs for you to enjoy one of the best views of Yellowstone Lake found anywhere in the park.

There are no rooms in the lodge itself, but just beyond this historic Yellowstone Park lodge are the Lake Lodge Cabins, which provides visitors with yet another option for their Yellowstone Lodging experience.  By the way, this is one of our favorite lodges in the park to enjoy the morning with a cup of coffee on the porch, looking out onto Yellowstone Lake.

In addition to the Lake Yellowstone Hotel and Cabins, and the Lake Lodge Cabins, the Bridge Bay Campground is located just up the road from Lake Village, and is a very popular Yellowstone Park campground.

5. OLD FAITHFUL AREA

The world famous Old Faithful Inn is one of America's favorite buildings, and is the most popular Yellowstone Park lodging facility.  Known as "The Old House", the historic Old Faithful Inn is a National Historic Landmark, and is without question one of the most recognized iconic images of Yellowstone National Park.  This national treasure was built in the winter of 1903-1904, and was designed by the brilliant architect Robert Reamer at the ripe old age of 29.  He used nearby lodgepole pine logs and local rhyolite rocks to create an architectural masterpiece.  

The Old Faithful Inn was the first to use the style of architecture that is now known as "parkitecture", and was the model for many future parkitecture-style buildings throughout the country's national parks. Because the Old Faithful Inn is so loved and so popular, guests hoping to get a room in "The Old House" need to make their reservations far in advance.

The most notable feature of the Old Faithful Inn is the gigantic lobby with its enormous stone fireplace. There is also a dining room and lounge in addition to the many original rooms that are found in this historic inn.  The East Wing and West Wing were added to the original structure in the teens and twenties, which are also popular Yellowstone Park lodging facilities.

Old House Rooms
These simple rooms are located in the original Old Faithful Inn, and are quite comfortable as well as historic.  They come with one or two queen beds, and a private bathroom with a sink, toilet and bathtub.

Old House Rooms with Shared Bath
These basic rooms are located in the original Old Faithful Inn.  These charming rooms have a vanity sink with one or two queen size beds, and a bathroom with private showers down the hall.

Suites
These wonderfully furnished suites have a sitting room, and a bedroom with 2 queen size beds.  There is a private bathroom with a tub/shower, toilet and sink.  Each suite also has a refrigerator.

Semi Suites
The Semi Suites are extra-large rooms that have a sitting area and two queen beds.  The private bathroom has a toilet, sink and tub/shower.

East Wing Geyserside, West Wing Frontside
These rooms look out onto the famous Upper Geyser Basin, which makes these rooms very special. These nicely appointed rooms have 2 queen beds and a private bathroom with a shower/tub, sink and toilet.

East Wing Standard, West Wing Standard
These modern rooms have either one or two queen beds and a private bathroom. (There are either a shower/tub combo or just a shower, depending on the room.)

Accessible Rooms
These rooms are located on the first floor, and have handrails and a portable shower-hose. The sink, toilet and shower are accessible, and they come with a queen bed.

Old Faithful Lodge Cabins
Located near the Old Faithful Inn, the Old Faithful Lodge is another historical structure that is a classic Yellowstone Park lodge.  Built in the 1920's, this charming one-level lodge boasts huge pine and stone
pillars, and is a perfect example of "parkitecture-style" architecture.

The Great Room provides a wonderful view of Old Faithful Geyser, as well as the main dining hall beyond the cafeteria.  The Old Faithful Lodge also has a very large gift shop, as well as a bakery and delicious ice cream.  There are no rooms at this lodge, instead there are nearby cabins.

Frontier Cabins
These cabins are very simple, and have a toilet, shower and sink.

Budget Cabins
These historic cabins are extremely basic yet comfortable.  There is a sink provided, but toilets and a communal shower are located nearby.

Old Faithful Snow Lodge, Yellowstone Park Lodging Accommodations

Old Faithful Snow Lodge & Cabins
Built in 1999, the Old Faithful Snow Lodge is Yellowstone Park's newest full-service hotel that is another example of classic "parkitecture".  This gorgeous lodge has a strong arts and crafts theme (mission-style)
along with creative wildlife and park themes throughout the building.  In addition to modern rooms, there is a full service dining room, lounge, quick service Geyser Grill, and Bear Den Gift Store.  The Old Faithful Snow Lodge is open for both the summer and winter seasons.

Lodge Rooms
These modern rooms have western lodge-style furnishings with creative wildlife themes.  There is a full bathroom, telephone, coffee maker, refrigerator and hair dryers in each room.

Accessible Lodge Rooms
These rooms are located on the ground floor of the Snow Lodge, and are the same as the other Lodge Rooms except they have roll-in showers, and accessible toilets and sinks.

Western Cabins
These spacious cabins are modernly furnished, and have 2 queen beds and a full bathroom with a sink, shower and toilet. These cabins are situated in modules of 4.

Accessible Western Cabins
Similar to the Western Cabins, each has an entry ramp, accessible toilet and sink, and a portable shower-hose.

Frontier Cabins
These simple cabins have a bathroom with a toilet, sink and shower, and have a duplex-style arrangement.

There are no radios, TVs or air conditioning provided in the Yellowstone Park lodging facilities at the Snow Lodge.  Internet is available for purchase in the lodge rooms and lodge lobby.  All rooms are non-smoking.

6. Grant Village

Grant Village was named after President Ulysses S. Grant, who signed the law making Yellowstone National Park the world's first national park.  Completed in 1984, the Grant Village lodge complex includes 6 two-

Standard Rooms
These nicely furnished modern rooms have at telephone and a private bath with a shower or shower/tub combo, sink and toilet.

Accessible Rooms
These rooms are all located on the first floor, and have a roll-in shower stall, accessible toilet and sink.
