Each of these Highway 89 Overlooks and Turnouts in Grand Teton National Park are right off the highway except Schwabacher Landing.  To get to Schwabacher Landing, you must take the Schwabacher Road for only about a mile, but it's gravel and bumpy, and there is quite a hill to drop down and come back up.  Use your judgment concerning the type of vehicle you're driving and whether or not it's a good idea to drive on this road.  Once you get to the parking lot, follow the well worn hiking trail for a few hundred yards until you get to the famous vantage point where the mountains are reflected in a beaver pond.

Best Time To Photo Is In The Morning!!!

The best time for photos on all of the Highway 89 Overlooks and Turnouts in Grand Teton National Park is in the morning, while the sun is still in the east, with its light beaming directly onto the east face of the range, and the sky is a vivid blue.  The mountains really glow and are extremely clear, whereas mid-day and beyond, the UV rays decrease the clarity of the mountains, as well as the sun gets in the absolute WRONG position for photoing or viewing!

Fascinating Geology

The Teton Mountain Range in Grand Teton National Park are still growing!!!  Being created about 6 to 9 million years ago, the Teton Mountain Range is the youngest mountains in the Rocky Mountains.  They are the result of what's called a Fault-Block Fault, and this fault is still active, thrusting the peaks upward.  The block has been displaced over 30,000 vertical feet since it was formed!!!
