Brief History of Kalispell Montana
In 1891, Charles Edward Conrad, who was a successful banker and businessman from Fort Benton Montana, along with three other business associates created the townsite of Kalispell Montana.  The town quickly grew and became an officially incorporated city 1892.  The town has since grown to over 20,000 people within the city limits, with as we mentioned earlier, over 93,000 residents in the Kalispell Area (i.e. the Flathead Valley).  Logging has always been the major industry in this area, and through time of course tourism has become an equally important industry, helping to sustain the economy of the entire Flathead Valley.

Glacier Park International Airport
The Glacier Park International Airport is located six miles north of Kalispell Montana, and is the closest international airport to Glacier National Park.  Glacier Park International Airport’s IATA Code is GPI, however most travel agencies use its old code KFCA so it’s not confused with the Guapi Airport in Colombia, which is also GPI.  (Now that would be a travel agent’s nightmare mistake! HaHaHa.)
