Views from the Summits:
Red Eagle Peak
This is a view of Grinnell Mountain from the Swiftcurrent Pass Trail near Red Rock Falls.
Red Eagle Peak (8,725 feet) is located in the St. Mary Lake Area, and provides a tremendous view of St. Mary Lake. This wonderful mountain is over 3,800 vertical feet directly above the water!
Views from the Summit
This is the classic view from Red Eagle Peak. We are over 3,700 vertical feet above St. Mary Lake. (See the next photo for the names of the peaks.)
The Going-to-the-Sun Road winds along St. Mary Lake on its way up to Logan Pass.
This is a view towards the eastern prairie. (See the following photo for some details on what you are looking at.)
Wild Goose Island looks like a tiny spot from up here!
Shannon looks toward the eastern prairie skyline.
The summit cairn (rock pile) is quite noticable on this particular summit.
This is a view to the west. Just above Shannon's head is the matterhorn of Reynolds Mountain, which is located on Logan Pass.
It was fun to watch the wooden tour boat move along the lake. It looked like a tiny spec of white. Can you see the boat?
We wondered if the people on the boat were looking up at us!
This is a telephoto view of the famous Wild Goose Island.
This is a great view of the Logan Pass Area, as well as the north shore of St. Mary Lake. (See the following photo for some details on some of the visitor stops.)
Saint Mary Lake is 9.9 miles long and 300 feet deep
This is a view to the south, with Red Eagle Lake below us.
The views from this peak are amazing, and it was definitely worth the effort to get up here!
